D-CAF x Cairo Calling (2024)
In partnership with D-CAF (Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival) in Egypt and Farnham Maltings (UK), Third Version Creative supported an artistic development programme designed to support artists, curators, and cultural professionals in navigating the complexities of producing and commissioning new work.
Bringing together a group of Arab artists and a cohort of Saudi curators, festival managers, and arts professionals, the programme focused on two key areas:
Producing for Artists – Offering insights into production processes, budgeting, and the practicalities of developing and presenting work, equipping artists with the tools to take their ideas forward.
Commissioning Processes – Exploring how new work is commissioned and supported, demystifying the role of funders, curators, and cultural institutions, and fostering dialogue between artists and those who shape artistic programmes.
Through workshops, discussions, and peer-to-peer exchange, the programme created a space for meaningful cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge-sharing. By connecting artists and arts professionals from different backgrounds, we helped build networks that extend beyond national borders, strengthening artistic ecosystems across the Arab world and beyond.
